Chinese investments in the world reached 35.7 bill. dollarsIn 2008, 117 of the leading 136 Chinese state companies invested in foreign countries. The leading Chinese companies, which are owned by the state, invested 35.7 billion dollars abroad, in order to expand their activities in a time of global crisis. The Chinese ministry of trade announced that in 2008, 117 of the leading 136 Chinese state companies invested abroad, pointing out that 80% of the investments are profitable. Beijing is encouraging the companies to invest abroad, in order to diversify the Chinese economy which is dependent on the export and the construction industry, and in order to use the world price drops of real estates in the last year.
