The German carmaker Volkswagen said it will acquire 49.9% of Porsche by the end of 2009 for about €3.9 billion, reports BBC.
In August, Volkswagen and Porsche have reached an agreement under which Volkswagen was to merge with Porsche until 2011. Volkswagen first needed to acquire 42 percent stake in Porsche by the end of this year for €3.3 billion.
Last year, Porsche registered debts because it failed to acquire 51 percent in Volkswagen. Namely, the company failed to collect the sufficient funds because of the impact of the crisis and the collapse of the car market.
