Russian energy giant Gazprom, which dominates the gas market in Europe and some regions of Asia, wants to gain ten percent of the U.S. market in the next decade, said today John Hatenberger, chairman of Gazprom.
- Our goal is to start very quickly and then to produce 80 million cubic meters per day after five years, said Hatenberger, suggesting that by 2019 the production could double. He noticed the opportunities of the U.S. market, which is the worlds largest energy consumer.
We are looking for companies with good positions in the Gas Sector in the U.S. which tend to expand in Europe. So we will sell gas in Europe, and they will sell us gas in the United States, said Hatenberger.
