The reduced production and the increase of the demand for sugar caused the growth of the sugar's price on the world markets to the highest level since 1981. Past Monday the price jumped 3 percent.

Analysts claim that the increase of the prices s a result of the fact that Brazil significantly has increased the demand because of the production of ethanol, while the sugar production in India noticed huge drop. The production in  this country in the season 2008/2009 had a fall of 45% compared with the previous season.
